Are you a procrastinator? Do you find or use excuses not to do something? Is this a constant in your life or not? Has being a procrastinator lead to being disorganized? Have you considered that your lack of organization may equate to your lack of success? Because the process of success is a planned event; it takes focus, organization, and specific steps to achieve success.
Procrastination is a behavior that leads to low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Procrastination is a difficult habit to overcome because the habit gets created by the lack of focus, our self-esteem, and our inability to figure out how to move forward. We allow the tasks in front of us to become mountains instead of molehills. To conquer a mountain you only need to conquer one step at a time; one task at a time; one day at a time.
Make your goals for success big enough that you are motivated to get organized, conquering the clutter, feeling great about who you are becoming. Do not allow people to distract you from your vision or purpose. The people who might want to distract you do not know how big your dreams are – so they will never understand.
Breaking your goals and projects into small pieces makes the accomplishment of these goals appear quicker. Challenge your habit of procrastination by asking yourself -”can this be done in two minutes?” If the answer is yes, do it now! There are many things that we postpone that truly only take a few minutes; such as – sorting mail, taking out the trash, taking something out for dinner, making a doctor’s appointment. The list is endless. Practice the two-minute rule.
