Do you find yourself stuck in inertia? Do you feel hopeless? Do you start the day with the best of intentions then discover at the end of the day that nothing got done? Does this lack of action confuse you and make you feel powerless? Do you make lots of plans that never seem to happen? You are not alone! There are many people that are stuck in in-action. This behavior is confusing and frustrating and mostly driven by fear.

Once you recognize and can break through your fears, taking action can be very empowering. One thing to be cautious about is not to confuse activity with results. The idea behind action is that the action leads to a specific result – such as – a better job, a raise, a new business, a new website, an improved relationship, more money in the bank, etc. People have the ability to create a lot of “action” but not a lot of “results.” An example – a sales person makes 100 sales calls each day but does not produce a sale. Action – no result. Does this make sense? Where in your life is there action but no results?

Here are three steps that might help you to get into empowered action:

1 – It is important to own that the way your life looks and feels right now was created by your lack of action. Hesitating or refusing to take action is the culprit. In order to move forward you must understand this.

Next, let’s pick one specific action that you can take to begin moving forward. What area of your life is most important to you right now? Is it relationship, career, health, finances, etc. What area are you feeling most bogged down in or stuck in? Now, define one action step you can take immediately towards the outcome you are looking to create. This is one simple baby step – not something huge – just something, that when completed, will be inspiring and empowering.

2 – Once you have chosen your action step, set an intention to do it no matter what! If fear raises its ugly head, act in spite of the fear. Ask yourself, “what is the worst thing that can happen if I do this?” Most of our fears appear to be real when they are not. If you ask for a raise, will you be fired – probably not. If you ask someone out on a date and they say “no” will you be less of a person or die from the experience – NO! The key here is to move through your fears and begin to own your life. This will definitely take practice. You will need to follow the “rinse and repeat” philosophy.

3 – Once you have take this first step – stop and review. On a scale of one to ten, was the experience as bad as you feared or worse – being a ten; or it was easy and fun and empowering? Challenge yourself everyday to take as many baby action steps as possible and celebrate all of your successes. Eventually the “fear gremlin
” will be eliminated and you will own your life and your results.

You will be surprised by how quickly you will break out of the inertia of your life and how fun and exciting life will become. Life will become effortless and your results will begin to explode. You will eventually ask yourself this question, “what was I afraid of and why did it take me so long to get unstuck?”
